Picnic on Mynydd Preseli

Sandwiched between bursts of hail that gave the impression that the sky was collapsing, we headed for The Golden Road and walked along the long ridge that crests the Preseli Mountains. We made our way over miles of wild grassy moorland and jumped over puddles of slick black mud and deep bogs to reach the top of Foel Cwmcerwyn and found that we were at the highest point in Pembrokeshire. The trig point was climbed, we ate our lunch and we made wildly optimistic guesses about how long it would take for the black clouds that hung above the Irish Sea to reach us. SONY DSCSONY DSCphonepreseliSONY DSCSONY DSCSONY DSCphonepreseli1SONY DSCSONY DSC

  1. Just wonderful Rich. 🙂 Reminds me of when I was very young and my parents used to take me up Ingleborough while on holiday, with nothing but a Mars Bar in the pocket of my cotton anorak!
